The Future of Fap Roulette

Sorry for taking this long to come with an update! I know it's been a while, but I'm still here! First of all, I would like to thank each and every one of you for all the love, support and unforgettable experiences over the years. It's been an amazing journey so far and it's been heartwarming to have seen our community grow into the tight-knit group of people we are today. It makes me happy to still see the people around who've been here since the beginning of Fap Roulette over 5 years ago, as well as all the newcomers who have only just started their journey into a whole new world. Even after all this time, our lovely content creators still manage to surprise me with their infinite creativity!

Fap Roulette was originally designed as an easy way for myself to roll on nameless roulettes I had collected along the way. I continued to develop and update it in my spare time but I never imagined it would become as big as it is today. Eventually it got to a point where there were so many new roulettes being submitted every day that it was hard to do anything besides checking roulettes. At that point, I asked the community to help out and take over that part so that I could focus on the development again and I'm eternally grateful to our moderators who've since risen up to that challenge. They've continued to serve as our much-needed barrier against the steady stream of spam and kept a watchful eye on the Shared Roulette to prevent it from devolving into chaos.

After all this time, I still have a bright-burning passion for Fap Roulette and would love to continue to develop and expand it. Roughly one and a half year ago I was dealing with some personal issues and they only got worse when I was forced into a difficult position on my job. Only recently I've managed to work out most of it and I was finally able to spend some more time on Fap Roulette again.

Nevertheless, I still have big plans for the future of Fap Roulette and cannot wait to bring them to fruition! Unfortunately, the job I have doesn't leave me with a lot of spare time and the single ad on the site sadly isn't enough to support the site, let alone myself. I really don't want to ruin the site with annoying popup ads or other crap, which is why there's just a single unobtrusive banner ad out of pure necessity that's purposely hidden on mobile to not destroy the experience and unfortunately mostly ad-blocked on desktop.

That's why it's been especially hard for me to ask you for any support you can provide through Patreon. It would be a dream if I can finally afford to dedicate more time developing Fap Roulette further. Your support would directly benefit Fap Roulette and will allow me to provide the site with a much more consistent stream of updates to make all your suggestions and ideas a reality. Below are some upcoming features and plans I have in mind that I'm sure you'll love and many of you have been extensively asking for. Due to the increasing number of roulettes, it has become harder to keep all roulettes neatly organized due to the slightly different filter settings submitted by each creator. With the introduction of lists, you'll be able to create a list in which you can add any roulettes that you want. There probably won't be a limit as to how many lists you can create. You will be able to filter and roll on the roulettes in a list on their own dedicated page.

Lists are public by default which means anyone will be able to see them on your profile as well as on a dedicated new lists page on which you can see the most popular lists, recently updated lists and more. If you see a list that you like or would like to follow, you will also be able to add it to your favorites to access it more easily. This addition also serves as a preparation for the upcoming "Challenges" update.

It will no longer be necessary to ask for each other's preferences as you'll be able to specify all of this in your profile. Your profile can be extended with a personal bio(graphy), your age, gender, orientation and identity as well as your likes, dislikes, soft limits and hard limits. You'll also be able to specify whether or not you're currently looking to be dommed or if you're in need of some lovely subs.

You also may or may not be able to set a custom header/background image for your profile, but I'm not completely sure about this yet. Additionally, there'll also be some new settings and preferences available to prepare for the upcoming "Challenges" update.

Challenge someone or accept a challenge from another user to compete against them on the same roulette! Once mutually accepted, a timer will start in which you both have to complete the roulette. The challenger decides upfront what type of proof should be provided upon completion (either text, pictures or both). After completion, you can both judge and rate the other person's performance. This rating will be displayed on your profiles and your ranking will be updated in the top challengers leaderboard.

When creating a challenge, you can either specify a specific roulette, or let fate decide with a completely random roulette from the entire site, a specific category, list or from your favorites. (Possibly also an option for roulettes that are in both of your favorites.) You can also decide to make it a Mystery Roulette, in which case neither of you will see the actual roulette until the challenge is accepted (only available when it's not a specific roulette). You can choose to make your challenge public so that anyone can accept it, keep it private and share it through a unique URL, or you can send a personal challenge by searching for a username (if they are accepting challenges).

During the actual challenge, you have the option to extend the timer for yourself by 12 hours, but it will have a slightly negative impact on your score. There's also an option to beg the opposing player for more time. If granted, you will get an extra 24 hours to complete the challenge. This will also impact your score but not as severe.

To keep things from getting messy, you can only accept and start 5 challenges per day and won't be able to challenge your own accounts (obviously).

With the addition of a fully integrated friends list, everything becomes a little less tedious and you can easily block out unwanted PMs, chats and challenges from users who are not on your friends list. Instead of searching for usernames, you'll have an easy overview of your friends that you can select when doing things like creating challenges and sending PMs. This will also make it possible to display your profile and/or its contents to your friends only.

Chat with anyone on the site in a way similar to the shared roulette. Your chats will be with you wherever you go on the site. It will be equipped with online states and of course with the option to appear offline (no judging here). To start a chat, you can either enter a username from the chat window or use the button from a user's profile. You'll be able to seamlessly switch between multiple chats anywhere on the site.

There'll undoubtedly be unsolicited chats so I'll make sure you can block users with ease as well as the option to automatically block chats from users not on your friends list. The functionality will be much like the shared roulette, meaning you can send images (temporary, if you wish) and emoji's right away. I do plan to add support for video's, group chats and even webcam, live calls and video streaming in a later update.

It would be a waste of all these features if you couldn't find anyone to engage with, right? That's why I would like to create a dedicated page on which you can discover and find new people to talk and engage with. You'll be able to find people who have the same preferences as you and instantly connect with them, chat with them and even challenge them. For the more daring among us, there'll also be a way to match with people who are in your area. All of this will be completely optional, of course.

The idea is to extend the shared roulette with a whole bunch of new features and customizable options so that it's possible for anyone to create their own private or shared room that anyone can join, or by invite only, or even protected with a password. You'll be in charge of the entire room and have a bunch of commands as well as an entire admin panel at your disposal.

For example, you'll be able to change the frequency the roulette changes or disable it entirely. You can even switch the roulette window with a highlighted media feature that displays the latest picture or video to everyone in the room. It is also possible to assemble your own moderator team to help manage your room and you can even create your very own bots. Either way, you decide what you do with it. All public rooms will be displayed on a new separate page so that anyone can browse and join them at will.

It's time to get crazy! Challenges will now be in real-time and you can even livestream yourselves doing it! You can turn on your both your microphone and camera or just one of the other if you're feeling shy. To take things up a notch, you can also make your challenge publicly viewable so that anyone will be able to watch you both completing the challenge live! It will be that much harder to bail out when there are people encouraging you as you're doing the roulette.

After all these features, it's high time to rearrange the layout to put more focus on certain parts of the site. Expect the homepage and the menu to be completely redesigned, but rest assured, the focus will always remain on the roulettes.

A lot of people have been asking for this for a while, but unfortunately I haven't developed my Java skills as well as I'd like, but I should still be able to create a working official application to be downloadable and updateable from the site. This should make it a bit easier to stay notified as well as return to Fap Roulette every once in a while. Unfortunately iOS is another beast but perhaps this is doable in the future.

Another thing that will need to happen pretty soon is a new server. The current one is unfortunately starting to hit its limits. Besides that, I think we can all agree that we need a bit more eyes to watch over Fap Roulette so if you'd like to help out with some moderation on the site, keep an eye out for upcoming applications.

In any case, this should keep me busy for quite a while but it's definitely not the end of Fap Roulette's future. Once most of these features and updates have been developed, I will make another roadmap/plan for Fap Roulette based on the feedback of the community as well as another major update post on how things stand.
